The Government introduced the Pupil Premium Grant in April 2011. This grant, which is additional to main school funding, is seen by the government as the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between students eligible for free school meals (including looked-after children and those of armed forces personnel) and other students, by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the students who need it most. The Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. Schools can decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual students within their responsibility. Schools are accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils and have to report on the impact of the spending.

For the academic year 2023/2024, we will receive £11,375 of the Pupil Premium grant and £5025 of the Service Pupil Premium. 

How we intend to spend our allocation for the academic year 2023/24:

• Training in pedagogy and high quality universal provision for all teaching staff 
• Time for our ELSA to work with pupils with SEMH needs 
• Pastoral support and resources for our Services children at appropriate times
• Financial reduction in school trips 
• Financial reduction in residential visits
• Classroom specialised resources
• Purchase high quality texts for classrooms

The Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body monitor the impact of all spending and interventions, including the pupil premium.  The strategy is reviewed during Term 2 of each year and the new strategy in place by 31st December each year.
