As part of our commitment to supporting every child to 'let their light shine', we are thrilled to announce that Northleaze is working in partnership with Nurture UK to become a Nurture Accredited School. This is a significant step forward in ensuring that our school is a place where children not only achieve academic success but also develop the social and emotional skills they need to flourish in the wider world.

Nurture UK promotes the principles of nurture which underpin a child’s development and wellbeing. These principles recognise that emotional growth and secure relationships are essential for children to succeed in their learning and their lives. At the heart of this journey are the six principles of Nurture, which we are starting to weave throughout all aspects of school life, including our Behaviour and Relationships Policy, curriculum teaching, and daily interactions around school and at play times.

We have already taken some significant steps in this direction:

• A Nurture Room and a Calm Room have been created to provide dedicated spaces where children can feel safe, supported, and emotionally regulated.
• We have delivered a series of assemblies to introduce and explore the concept of nurture with our pupils.
• Each classroom is developing its own nurture space, giving children a place within their learning environment to practice emotional regulation and self-care.
• We will be rolling out Zones of Regulation across the school which specifically supports children in understanding and regulating their emotions. It is a social and emotional learning programme that is used in multiple countries around the world to support children in their wellbeing and development.

Our aim of promoting the six principles of Nurture reflects our belief that all children should feel valued, supported, and able to express themselves in an environment that is inclusive and encouraging.

We are proud to be part of this journey, and we invite our families to be part of it too. Over the coming months, we will share more information about how Nurture is being implemented at Northleaze and the positive impact it is having on our children.
